Yippee...Summer's Here!!
And that means hot hot days that require rising just a little earlier to get the hard labor, like edging beds and planting, out of the way early and leaving the heat of the day for things like bookwork, planning Christmas orders (I know!) and looking for new plant varieties to try next year. Luckily, I've discovered all of these can be done in the shade of a tree!
Our 4th of July holiday was perfect (and we hope yours was too!) lazily tubing down the Battenkill with the kids, baking a cake for the Fireman's Carnival and walking down the road to watch the village fireworks light up the sky over the barn roof. Awesome!!
But..back to work! Our gallon sized annuals look fabulous - sunflowers are starting to head up, fragrant nicotiana sylvestris is just setting buds and there are some great 4" color pots coming on - hardy mums in red, white, pink, bronze and yellow, pink and purple asters, bi-color crested celosia, dainty blue wahlenbergia and giant ray asters...why not try something new?
The Flower Shop is well stock with green hydrangea, royal blue delphiniums, colorful gerberas, white daisies, button matricaria and bright yellow lilies!
